Course Overview:
This course equips participants with systematic, research-based strategies to lead small group reading instruction that accelerates students’ reading development. Participants will analyze and triangulate reading data to identify patterns in fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary, allowing for the design of highly responsive lessons. The course emphasizes practical routines for bridging word study with textual engagement and understanding, ensuring students develop into fluent, thoughtful readers.
Learning Objectives and Outcomes
Data Triangulation and Grouping: Analyze multiple reading data points to identify patterns and form flexible, responsive small groups for targeted intervention.
Targeted Instructional Design: Design and implement evidence-based small group lessons specifically tailored to address identified needs in fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.
Build Independence: Facilitate efficient small group instructional routines while implementing systems that sustain student engagement and independence during the literacy block.
Structures and Organization: Develop a comprehensive action plan, including instructional schedules, lesson planners, and progress-monitoring tools to track and support continued reading growth.
